At the time this blogpost was being typed... the state of Johor has 10 districts. Those districts are...
- Johor Bahru.
- Batu Pahat.
- Kluang.
- Muar.
- Kota Tinggi.
- Kulai.
- Pontian.
- Segamat
- Tangkak
- Mersing.
Before the state of Johor was divided into 10 districts... the state of Johor was originally divided into 8 districts. Kulai district and Tangkak district are new districts that form 10 districts in the state of Johor. Kulai district was originally under the administration of Johor Bahru district and Tangkak district was under the administration of Muar district.
Apart from these 10 districts... the state of Johor also have a small district land administration and a local authority district administration. The following is a list of subdistrict land administration and local authority district administration that do not have full district status in the state of Johor...
- Iskandar Puteri (formerly known as Middle Johor Bahru or Skudai. Under the Johor Bahru district land administration).
- Pasir Gudang (Johor Bahru).
- Yong Peng (formerly known as East Batu Pahat. Under Batu Pahat district land administration).
- Rengit (Batu Pahat).
- Simpang Renggam (formerly known as South Kluang. Under the Kluang district land administration).
- Pengerang (formerly known as South Kota Tinggi. Under the land administration of Kota Tinggi district).
- Labis (formerly known as South Segamat. Under the land administration of Segamat district).
- Gemas Baru (Segamat).
Looking at the formation of 10 districts in the state of Johor which was previously 8 districts... the formation of new districts in the state of Johor is not something new.
Looking at the Rengit subdistrict which is better known as the agricultural district and oil palm district... now the subdistrict is developing rapidly if measured by its geographical size and population.
Therefore... in the opinion of the author of this blog... this subdistrict has the potential to become a fully separate district from the Batu Pahat district land administration one day in the future.
I hope this becomes a reality one day in the future.
